With more than 20 years of experience, CICTE’s Cybersecurity Section is the regional leader in providing assistance to member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) in the development of cybersecurity capabilities at the technical and public policy levels. Its initiatives and activities aim to ensure an open, secure and resilient cyberspace throughout the Western Hemisphere. The cybersecurity section focuses on several key pillars to strengthen digital security in the region:
Policy development: Assisting OAS member states in developing national cybersecurity strategies that involve all relevant stakeholders and are tailored to each nation’s legislative, cultural, economic, and structural situation.
Technical assistance: We facilitate the exchange of technical information, provide mentoring for the creation and strengthening of CSIRTs, and offer specialized training to improve cyber incident response capabilities, and advancing cybersecurity workforce development by creating talent pipelines in OAS member states.
Research and outreach: Conducting research and developing technical documents, toolkits, and reports , highlighting current developments, and key cybersecurity challenges in the region, while implementing cybersecurity awareness campaigns and promoting gender and diversity initiatives to enhance representation in the field.
Capability and talent development: Training professionals and fostering the creation of specialized cybersecurity talent. And in a transversal and prioritized way gender inclusion, diversity and inclusion, ensuring that all people have equal opportunities in the field of cybersecurity.
